Overview

Daymoon wanted a world, not a story. So we grew one: rolling dunes of rose grass under a lavender sky, a geodesic dome half-buried in the hillside, and a lone palm doing its best. No characters, no dialogue — just wind, light, and the question in the title.

The short doubles as Daymoon's environment showreel, and the dome frame is the most reposted still we've ever made.

What the short entails

A fully procedural dune system dressed by hand, a hero dome interior glimpsed but never entered, and a grade that keeps the pinks dreamy without tipping into candy.

  • World design: dunes, dome and palm hero assets
  • Procedural grass with hand-dressed hero areas
  • Three lighting states: dawn, noon, dusk
  • Ambient sound bed and gentle score
  • Still-frame pack for print and social

How we made it

We started with the grade: three look-frames that defined dawn, noon and dusk before a single dune was modeled. Everything after that served those frames. The palm is eleven hand-placed fronds, instanced into a full crown — close enough to touch, cheap enough to render.
